Drug & Alcohol Admissions
|
While approximately 3,000 individuals seek professional assistance each year
from the SADAC, national estimates indicate that more than 20,000 others in Spartanburg
County are unable to receive help or choose not to seek it. Despite the negative
stigma associated with the problem, with support and treatment, people who abuse
alcohol and other drugs are able to make positive changes that improve their quality
of life. Between 2000 and 2003, nearly 70% of all SADAC clients completed treatment
successfully. Substance abuse and addiction are known to have a ripple effect
on the community, contributing to issues such as poverty, unemployment, hospital
admissions, school attendance, and crime. When individuals and families recover
from addiction, the entire community benefits.
