Infant Mortality
|
The infant mortality rate shows deaths that occur from birth to the first birthday
and is a recognized international health indicator and an indirect measure of
prenatal care. Medical advances in the care of very premature infants have improved
survival rates. In 2002, the U.S. Infant Mortality rate was 7.0 per 1,000 live
births.
