Goal 10: Our citizens will manage our natural resources in a way that will support
current and future generations.
This goal acknowledges the importance of benchmarks associated with land, air, water, and waste management. The available community indicators for this goal are mixed. There is a need to develop an extensive set of indicators to measure progress in this important area. It is critical that Spartanburg County view economic development and a healthy, sustainable environment as going hand in hand. The indicators in this section show that a generally healthy ecosystem faces increased pressures from population growth, energy consumption and land development.
